Teachers Exploring the Bay, Tangier Sound
Open to teachers watershed wide.

How does our watershed impact the ecology and culture of the Chesapeake Bay? Participants will engage in immersive hands-on, field-based investigations exploring the marshes, critters, ecology and culture of the Bay. The course will focus on ways humans can work to reduce environmental impact, encourage sustainability, and foster environmental literacy. All participating teachers will develop a Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience (MWEE) for their students.

Length & Location: Five consecutive days of field-based, whole-group, outdoor investigations: Participants will spend the first half of the week at Karen Noonan Environmental Education Center and the second half at Port Isobel Environmental Education Center both are dormitory-style accommodations.
Cost: $350
Credit: Successful completion of the course and final project will qualify Maryland teachers to receive 3 MSDE Continuing Professional Development Credits (#21-66-01R), Virginia and Washington, D.C. teachers to receive documentation of 45 contact hours, and Pennsylvania teachers to receive 45 Act48 hours. Orientation Date: Virtual orientation meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on May 25th, June 22nd, or July 13th. Choose one of the virtual meetings prior to your course.

COVID POLICY: All participants of multi-day experiences are required to be fully up to date on COVID vaccinations or have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of in person programing start. All vaccinated participants are required to take a rapid covid test 48 Hours prior to the start of in person programing. Attend only if negative.
