Local Issues, Local Solutions: Pennsylvania
Open to all certified PA Teachers.

Do you want to expand your student-centered learning projects to include stewardship and action in your local community? Do you want to learn outside? Join CBF and PA State Parks for this three-day course that focuses on the management of action projects, from issue identification to project implementation. This course will walk participants through meaningful outdoor learning experiences and how to connect local resources to their content to create rich learning opportunities outside of their classroom walls while incorporating student voice and managing the project process. Participants are asked to complete NOAA's MWEE101 online course before the start of the in-person course.

Length & Location: This in-person course will be conducted over three days at Gifford Pinchot State Park. These days will include stream/lake water investigations and a paddle experience. This is not an overnight experience.
Cost: No cost due to support from a NOAA BWET grant.
Credit: Successful completion of the course and final project will qualify participants for 27 ACT48 hours. Certified Pennsylvania classroom teachers in IU13 and IU15 are also eligible for a participation stipend and through a NOAA BWET grant.
Orientation Date: Virtual orientation meetings are at 7:00 p.m. on May 25th, June 22nd, or July 13th. Choose one of the virtual meetings prior to your course.

COVID POLICY: All participants of multi-day experiences are required to be fully up to date on COVID vaccinations or have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of in person programing start. All vaccinated participants are required to take a rapid covid test 48 Hours prior to the start of in person programing. Attend only if negative.
